How Do Veneers Work?
When it comes to dramatically improving a smile in a short amount of time—usually just two dental appointments—nothing beats the beauty of porcelain veneers. And the way veneers work is quite straightforward.
The first step is prepping the tooth for the veneers to be placed. The front of your tooth will be trimmed to make room for the veneers. The amount of tooth trimmed is generally equal to the thickness (or thinness!) of the veneers themselves to preserve the overall thickness of the tooth.
Next, you and your dentist will pick out the shade of veneers that best fits with your ultimate smile goal.
An impression will be made of the prepared teeth. This copy of your teeth will be used to fabricate custom-fitted veneers.
When the veneers have been fabricated, your dentist will fit them onto your prepared teeth. Ultimately they will be bonded into place, giving you a vastly improved smile. There might be a bit of clean-up for your dentist to take care, such as removing extra cement. This will be cured and flossed away.
As a final step, your dentist will check your bite to ensure it hasn’t been altered by the veneers.
If you have more questions about porcelain veneers, be sure to ask your Arlington, TX dentist Rush Creek Dentistry.
