4 Reasons to Schedule an Emergency Dental Visit

Just because there is something wrong with your teeth, does that mean you need to see a dentist right away? How do you know if your dental problem is an emergency or if it can wait? You probably do not think of the type of these questions very often, but they are not the type of questions you want to be worrying about when you are facing a dental emergency. At our office in Arlington, TX, we offer emergency services for nearly any dental emergency and can help you prepare for the worst.

Broken Tooth or Restoration

A common dental emergency is a broken or chipped tooth or restoration. Leaving a broken tooth or restoration without treatment for long could lead to infection and further damage to the tooth, so you should visit your dentist as soon as possible if you break a tooth. Broken wires in braces also call for emergency treatment, as they can be uncomfortable and cut into your gums and cheeks.

Dislocated Tooth

Immediate dental treatment will be necessary if you lose a tooth because it was knocked out of place or completely out of its socket. If possible, you should gently rinse any debris off the tooth with clean warm water and carefully try to put the tooth back in place. Even if you cannot do this, you should still get to the dentist immediately in case he or she can still get the tooth back in place and save it.

Abscess/Toothache

An abscess is a true emergency, and if you do not get it treated in time, it may call for a trip to the emergency room. To avoid all of that hassle, drama, and expense, if you have a painful pimple-like bump on your gums, make an emergency appointment with us and get dental treatment immediately.

Bleeding

If your tongue, cheeks, or gums are bleeding and you cannot stop the bleeding, you should make an emergency dental appointment and get treatment as soon as possible. It is important to find the reason for the bleeding and make sure it is treated. If any of these things happen to you, don’t hesitate to call (682) 323-3299 to make an emergency appointment.
