Frequently Asked Questions: Extractions

How can we help you?

Extractions

Emergencies can happen, and many of our patients do not know when they may be faced with missing teeth. When it occurs, they may be unsure of how to restore their smiles. Thanks to the team at Rush Creek Dentistry in Arlington, TX, patients have a few different ways of replacing missing teeth with our restoration specialists.

Dentures

One of the most common methods of tooth replacement that also happens to be extremely economical for our patients is dentures. Dentures come in two varieties – partial and full. Partials are for replacing one or more teeth within the dental arch, while full dentures are for restoring the entire dental arch. Dentures are often covered by dental insurance policies which can make them the most affordable solution.

Dental Bridges

Replacing missing teeth with dental bridges is another option for patients who want a fixed alternative to dentures, which are removable. Dental bridges are bonded into place to restore the smile. Bridges require patients to floss underneath them to ensure food particles do not become trapped and contribute to dental decay or periodontal disease.

Dental Implants

Another option that many patients like for single tooth replacement is dental implants. Dental implants are great permanent replacements. These titanium posts are placed into the bone of the jaw and are restored using a dental crown to replace a single tooth. Other uses include denture stabilization and an anchor for a dental bridge. Implants are incredibly versatile and can last a lifetime with proper care.

At Rush Creek Dentistry, we have a wide range of services that can be used in enhancing smiles. Our restoration specialists are dedicated to helping repair oral function and beauty so that patients can feel confident with their own smiles. Tooth Extraction

While there are typically other treatment options available for patients with troublesome teeth, there are times in which comfortable dental extractions are required. Arlington practice, Rush Creek Dentistry, provides simple extractions, as well as the extraction of wisdom teeth for patients who need them.

There are many reasons a dentist may recommend that a tooth be extracted. Most commonly, wisdom teeth are a reason for concern. This surgical extraction is typically done when a patient’s wisdom teeth become impacted. They are sometimes removed after a patient has undergone orthodontic treatments as well, in order to keep the teeth from erupting and causing crowding. Wisdom teeth are removed by the dentist to avoid or address pain or discomfort that a patient may be experiencing from them.

Simple extractions are done for a variety of reasons. In some instances, patients may require tooth extractions when there has been severe decay that is too extensive to save the tooth via other means, such as fillings. Some patients who have a damaged tooth, such as one that is cracked or chipped, may benefit from an extraction. Teeth that have undergone root canals that have failed may require extraction. Patients who are preparing their smile for dentures may also require that one or more teeth be extracted.

In most cases, when teeth are extracted, the dental team will then discuss ways to restore the smile. Patients may consider restorative, cosmetic treatments such as dental implants, partial dentures, or dental bridges.

The dentists at Rush Creek Dentistry of Arlington are here to help patients with any type of tooth extraction. While the team will do their best to consider alternative methods of treatment, there are times when an extraction is the only option.

If you believe you need to have a dental extraction completed, contact the team at Rush Creek Dentistry today to schedule a consultation appointment and find out if tooth extraction is the solution to your dental concern!
